Xiaomi IMILAB CMSXJ55A EC5 2K 360 IP Outdoor Camera (IMILAB EC5 Outdoor Camera)

The Xiaomi IMILAB CMSXJ55A EC5 2K 360 IP Outdoor Camera is built for durability and resilience, specifically designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions. Featuring an IP66 waterproof rating, this camera is protected against heavy rain, dust, and extreme weather conditions, making it suitable for year-round outdoor surveillance. Its robust casing ensures that the internal electronics remain safe from environmental factors, while the modern, sleek exterior seamlessly blends with home or commercial exteriors. The camera’s compact yet sturdy design also allows it to be mounted on walls, ceilings, or poles without compromising stability.

Camera Specifications and Video Quality

Equipped with a 3MP sensor, the EC5 camera captures sharp and detailed footage with a maximum resolution of 2K (2304 x 1296 pixels). Its f/2.1 lens ensures optimal light intake, providing clear images even in low-light conditions. The wide dynamic range (WDR) feature enhances contrast and brightness, ensuring that every detail is visible in both bright and shadowed areas. With 360-degree rotational capability, the camera can capture the entire surrounding area without blind spots, offering comprehensive coverage for homes, gardens, driveways, or commercial spaces.

Night Vision and Color Imaging

One of the standout features of the EC5 is its Color Night Vision capability. Unlike conventional infrared night vision that only produces black-and-white images, this camera uses advanced sensor technology and smart lighting to capture clear, colored images even in very low-light scenarios. The built-in floodlight not only assists with night vision but also acts as a deterrent to potential intruders. This feature makes it particularly effective for outdoor areas where accurate identification of people or objects is essential.

Audio Features and Communication

The EC5 camera is equipped with a built-in microphone and speaker, enabling two-way audio communication. This functionality allows users to listen in on the surroundings, as well as communicate remotely with visitors, delivery personnel, or intruders. Through the Mi Home app, users can speak through the camera in real time, providing both convenience and security. The microphone is designed to pick up clear audio from a moderate distance, while the speaker delivers sound at a volume sufficient for outdoor communication.

Smart Detection and Security Functions

The camera includes a comprehensive suite of intelligent detection features. Motion detection allows it to sense movement and trigger alerts, while human detection and tracking ensure that notifications are specific to people rather than animals or moving objects like trees or vehicles. Users can set up Key Detection Zones to focus monitoring on critical areas, reducing false alarms. In case of suspicious activity, the alarm system can automatically activate the floodlight and sound an alert, deterring intruders and notifying the homeowner immediately.

Connectivity and Remote Access

Connectivity is versatile on the Xiaomi EC5, supporting both Wi-Fi and Ethernet (RJ-45) connections. This ensures reliable and stable network access, even in areas where Wi-Fi signals may fluctuate. Once connected, the camera can be monitored in real time through the Mi Home app, which is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. The app allows users to control camera rotation, configure detection zones, view live footage, review recorded clips, and customize alert settings from anywhere in the world.

Storage Options and Memory Support

The camera offers multiple storage options for recorded footage. Users can store video locally on a MicroSD card up to 256GB, ensuring that recordings remain accessible even without cloud services. Additionally, the EC5 supports cloud storage through Xiaomi’s cloud platform, providing secure off-site backup and easy access to footage. The combination of local and cloud storage ensures data redundancy, protecting against loss of critical recordings. The card reader port facilitates simple installation and replacement of memory cards, making maintenance straightforward.

Smart Lighting and Floodlight Integration

The Xiaomi EC5 is equipped with an integrated smart lighting system that works alongside the floodlight for enhanced visibility and deterrence. This system illuminates the monitored area when motion is detected or during scheduled intervals. The combination of 360-degree rotation and targeted lighting ensures that the camera captures all activity clearly. Additionally, users can remotely control the brightness and timing of the floodlight via the Mi Home app, allowing for adaptive lighting based on specific needs or time of day.

360° Rotation and Flexible Monitoring

A unique feature of the EC5 is its 360-degree rotation capability, which provides complete coverage without the need for multiple cameras. Users can manually control the rotation through the app or set it to auto-tracking mode, where the camera follows detected movements automatically. This ensures that important events are fully captured, even if the subject moves across different areas of the camera’s field of view. The smooth rotational mechanism ensures consistent tracking and prevents any abrupt motion blur in recorded footage.

Compatibility and Smart Home Integration

The Xiaomi IMILAB EC5 camera is highly compatible with smart home ecosystems, allowing integration with other Xiaomi devices for automated security solutions. Through the Mi Home app, users can link the camera to smart lights, alarms, or sensors, creating a unified system that responds intelligently to detected activity. Its compatibility with both Android and iOS devices ensures that users can seamlessly monitor their property regardless of smartphone platform. The combination of smart detection, flexible storage, and easy app access makes this camera an ideal solution for homeowners and small business owners looking for comprehensive, intelligent outdoor surveillance.
